Although she dates from the 1920s, the costume of this fabulous doll has an earlier, Edwardian feel to it. A particular delight is her straw hat which is swathed in net and festooned with ribbon flowers; she wears it over a net and sequin hair snood.
Her composition face has sideways glancing eyes and rouged cheeks. Her hair is mostly concealed by the snood but it appears to be made from mohair and is an auburn/brown colour.
Her body and limbs are soft-stuffed cloth. Her upper section of her dress is made from a silky fabric which has been studded with sparkling crystals all the way down to the end of her long sleeves. Her high collar is made from net.
The net continues on her skirt – there are multiple tiers of it, giving her dress fullness. Her long undergarments are also made of net, and her shoes are silky and studded with crystals and sequins.
Condition: there are some marks and cracks on her face which look worse in the photos than in reality. Her clothing has a few tears and holes and some of her crystals and sequins are missing but generally she is in good condition for her age.
