Utterly charming, this girl little dates from the 1920s and is marked on the back of her head ‘UNIS France 301’.
She has a bisque head with cropped light auburn hair, blue sleeping eyes and an open mouth showing three teeth, and a composition body with painted shoes and socks.
Her costume – which I believe to be original – consists of knickers, matching chemise and shorts, a pleated pink dress and a green felt coat with matching hood. I think this outfit might have been inspired by Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairy books which first appeared in 1923, about the time the doll was made.
Her condition is very good, with just a slight hairline in the composition at the top of her back and some age-related wear which is magnified many times over in the photos.
A lovely small size, she will display beautifully in a cabinet.
