This is small Mid Century butterfly dish by Couroc of Monterey. The black part of the tray is a phenolic resin like Bakelite. The owners of this company were a very artistic married couple, the husband was Courvosier the man that made Disney cells into art. His wife was an artist in her own right, she had a one woman show at Gumps, a high end California store known for art. They came up with this line together utilizing her art and his knowledge of plastics from the war. This bowl measures 7 3/4”W and is in great condition with no chips or cracks and is nice and shiny not scratched. The butterfly is made out of natural wood veneers. Very pretty gift.
