This is a very beautiful piece of art glass that was made by Thomas Buechner the Third and is dated 8/20/1982. This is a signature piece of his, I’ve seen this design in different sizes and colors but always with the applied glass decoration on the shoulders of the vase. It is a black glass that has a smooth pontil which measures 1 3/4”, from there it widens to 8 1/4” And narrows to the top of the vase which measures 1 3/4”. It is about 5 1/2”H including the applied shoulders. Thomas Buechner the Third was a very prestigious glassmaker, he was a founding partner of the Vitrix Hot Glass Studio. His works have been exhibited in galleries throughout the world and are included in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass and the Victoria and Albert Museum of Art among others.
