Here is another lovely example of 1880s American pewter-trimmed graniteware (also called enamelware) from my own collection. I love these ornate pieces and they display beautifully!
This one has a white enamel background and a depiction of a French chateau on both sides. The enamel is in excellent condition. The metal is ornate. There are a couple of darker spots on the metal trim and I think it is a patina or tarnish, like Sterling silver does. There is no wear and erosion and it may polish off it is is distracting to you. I think it is part of the charm.
The pot measures 11 1/2" tall by 9" across. It really is a striking piece!
