For collectors of early Mexican jewelry you know that Los Castillo was one of the premier tallers in Mexico. It was located in Taxco. Don Antonio Castillo worked for Spratling before starting his own business. Later he married Margot de Taxco and they worked together. His brother Jorge (Chato) invented a way to mix metals and stone and this is one of his masterpieces. The design is reminiscent of works by Picasso. This jewelry is beyond fabulous. The mixture of metals and turquoise is blended on a heavy sterling base. This particular design won a prize in 1955.
I have the bracelet and earrings and the pin/pendant. I am selling the pin/pendant separately because it has been polished. The bracelet and earrings have their old patina.
The bracelet is about 6 1/2 inches around and 1 5/8 inches wide in the center front. Earrings are screw backs and 7/8 inch top to bottom. The bracelet has a safety chain and a very sturdy box clasp. All of the pieces are fully marked and in excellent condition. If you look closely at the pictures you can see how seamless it all looks. This is the piece de resistance for any collection.
