Large, 37.6 mm in diameter, Chronograph Suisse in 18K gold with an original, glossy black gilt dial. The gilt dials are quite special and fetch much higher prices than other dials. This is because of the more labor intensive process and rarity of these dials.
The watch dates probably to 1940s.
In that time period many of these watches were made with thin gold cases that were reinforced inside with a base metal frame and an inside base metal movement cover. Since the lugs are hollow they use female spring bars. The chronograph starts with push button at 2 o’clock. Stop with the button at 4 o’clock and resume with the top one again. Zero the registers with the bottom pusher again. The movement was serviced in April 2016 and runs great. There is a dent in the case on the side by one of the lugs. The case back also has some dings. The crystal has a few minor imperfections, a small pit seen in 3rd picture.
Overall a nice vintage gold chronograph with a hard to find original black gilt dial. The watch is 46 mm long. Weighs as pictured 51 grams.
