For your consideration, an antique pair of large figurine / statues of two muses or water carriers or probably representations of Hebe; they are finely crafted in Imperial Amphora porcelain; both figurines are large and heavy; both of them were very well done in the classic Hellenic style.
In Greek mythology, Venus, the goddess of love, was attended by a beautiful assistant named Hebe. Hebe's role was to give water to the gods. These classic water-bearing statues are most probably based on the mythical character of Hebe.
Both women are dressed in a draped cape and a flowing tunic with large jugs of water on their heads and hands. Both figurines are decorated with a gold necklace and snake jewelry on the upper arm.
Estimated Age: I estimate that these figurines were made during the 19th century; both statues are marked at the bottom: Royal Imperial Amphora of Turn, Austria. The incised marks on the base include, in the center, the IMPERIAL - AMPHORA - TURN brand round with the AUSTRIA and AMPHORA oval on the right and left respectively, the Reissner and Kressler crown on the top. In addition, they both have incised numbers 4937 and 4938 respectively and the number 20 (making them a perfect pair).
Dimensions: The size of each statue is (height x length x width in inches): 23 x 6.5 and 24.3 x 6.7. Both are large and heavy.
Conditions: Both figurines are in excellent condition; take a closer look at the photos (they are an essential part of the description); if you need more, feel free to request additional photos; both statues have minor touche-ups (see photos) one has what it seems a professional restoration in a pair of fingers of the left hand; There are no broken parts or restorations to indicate.
Please note that this is a used or old item, so you should not expect to have a perfect appearance of a new product. The photos are part of the description.
Please note that the colors of the photos may vary from those of the real object for reasons of lighting or the background used.
