18th Century Forged Iron Double Crusie Phoebe Grease Oil Lard Lamp

This is a fine example of a conventional double crusie, also known as a “Phoebe” lamp. It is blacksmith made (forged iron) and probably originated in Scotland in the 18th century. The upper reservoir is almost heart form. The serrated stud supporting the upper reservoir permits adjustment as the fluid (oil or grease) is consumed: the lower bowl collects the drip. For use, it would be hung using the hook.
