Playtime Surprises is a glazed hardcover book with enchanting illustrations of Victorian children in the settings of yesteryear which come to life with intricate "Venetian blind" changing pictures. First published in the late 19th century by Ernest Nister of London.
There are 12 pages in all including verses and pictures on the front and back inside covers. Six pages have Venetian blind pictures that can be changed using a pull tab at the bottoms of the pages.
Published by Philomel Books, a division of Putnam Publishing Group in 1985. The book measures 9-3/4" t x 8-5/8" w and is in excellent condition.
