Antique Gottschalk grocery shop is a fabulous wooden room box with great eye appeal. The angled side walls have built-in cabinets in a warm brown stain topped with fancy scroll cut pediments. Pull out drawers are marked with white enameled tin labels that identify a variety of dry goods.
In the center, a detached long counter holds a pressed metal scale and wooden blocks with lithographed labels representing food and tobacco.
An ornate wooden door in the center back has painted faux wood panels outlined in black, original gilt metal knob that latches and fancy removable pediment made of pressed tin, wood and plaster. Carved oval picture frames with lithograph prints flank the door.
The upper back wall is painted and the lower half is stained with a black pin stripe in between. The floor is covered in original parquet style litho paper. The exterior is painted green with painted trim around the door.
Made in 1" scale, grocery store measures 11 1/2" t x 21 1/2" w x 9" d and is in very good condition with minor wear. One of the drawers is missing a knob, two have chipped knobs and a trim piece is missing on one of the fluted columns.
