Tobacco Felt Rug Native American Design Early 1900sTobacco Felt Rug Native American Design Early 1900s

Tobacco felt rug with a lively Native American design featuring peace pipes is colorfully printed in red, gold, white and charcoal with an olive green background. It measures 6" x 8 1/2". Made in the early 1900s, it is in excellent condition with no fading or wear.

Tobacco flannels or felts were give-aways in packages of tobacco and cigarettes at the turn of the century. Popular designs for these felts were baseball players, flags from various countries, popular colleges and universities and dollhouse rugs. Many of the larger size rugs or flannels featured Native American designs. These rugs could be used in country style dollhouses and rustic cabins.
