3" - 6" Group of 3 Souvenir Dolls - 2 Seminole Indian Dolls and a Mexican Straw and Gourd Doll 1960s
This interesting group of 3 souvenir dolls includes two Seminole Indian straw dolls, the littlest one is 3" tall and the larger one is 4 1/2" tall. Both are wearing two tiered skirts decorated with rows of colorful rick rack. They are wearing multi-colored beaded earrings and necklaces. The little one has sequins and beads decorating her black wide brimmed hat. The doll heads are made of straw wrapped around a form. The large doll also has a bell-shaped body also covered in straw. Their faces are embroidered.
The third doll is a 6" Mexican gourd doll. Her gourd head has been wrapped in fabric and painted with brown lacquer paint. Her arms and legs are made of molded fabric. Her arms are painted with brown lacquer. She has a hand painted face and black braided yarn hair tied with salmon rayon ribbon. She is wearing a green calico long dress with lace edging and a starched muslin lace edged slip. Her leather sandals have multiple leather straps.
The dolls are all in very good to excellent condition.
These dolls are known by various names - international dolls, folk dolls, tourist dolls, travel dolls, ethnic dolls and foreign costume dolls to name a few. This is a nice Mexican doll grouping for those collecting this genre of vintage dolls.
