Antique German dollhouse Biedermeier boulle sewing cabinet was made in the 1840s by cabinet maker, J. D. Kestner. It features a fabric hinged lid that lifts up to reveal a red velvet lined compartment with indentations for sewing notions. Blue satin lines the lid and is trimmed with gilt Dresden paper trim.
The cabinet is stained to resemble rosewood with white banding on the edge of the lid and bottom of compartment. Attractive scroll cut trestle legs have distinctive white diamond inserts and a fancy turned stretcher.
Made in a large 1" scale, it measures 3 1/8" t x 3 1/2" w x 2 5/8" d and is in excellent condition although it is missing the sewing notions.
