This unusual boxed sewing or needle kit dates to the 1914-18 war and would have been picked up by a soldier (probably in France) to send to their sweetheart back home. It is constructed in cardboard and the front has been hand stitched with the classic 'Forget Me Not' motto of the time and printed images of beautiful young ladies adorn the other faces.
Ingeniously the lid of this holds the sides all in place so when lifted up the sides fall open like a flower to reveal lots of needles.
Please see images but it is offered in nice original condition with just some minor wear to the outside and light corrosion on the needles.
Dimensions: 11.6 x 8.2 x 8.2 cm or 4.6 x 3.2 x 3.2 inches.
Weight: 182 grams or 117 penny weight.
