Very rare antique German bisque head doll made by Heinrich Handwerck ca. 1890. The doll stands 15.3" (39 cm) tall. Her bisque head is free of damage or repair, no cracks, chips or restoration, except a small scratch under her eye. The head is marked "89 - 9".
Beautiful deep brown glass sleep eyes with upper and lower painted lashes, eye mechanism is fully operational, original lid wax. A closed mouth, which is very hard to find. Pierced ears with antique earrings. Old human hair wig.
Early wood and composition body in very good condition. The body has some minor areas of age-related wear.
The doll wears antique clothing, her silk dress is wonderful, however fragile and splitting on the front side. A metal head piece decorated with colorful beads, cotton underwear, leather boots.
