Description: This is a very nice antique 18th century hand painted polychrome shell form wall cabinet with older and recent elements and casing. The interior carved wood is painted with stylized florals and scroll with built in shelves with a partial dome shell form top with gilt medallions. Interior cabinet dates to the early 1700s and was most likely removed from some palace in Europe. By the style and age, the antique sections were then custom crafted into a wood cabinet base most likely in the 1940s. Sometime in the 1970s this cabinet was then sat atop the the drawer base and built into a corner. Piece as is is missing moldings and paint, shows signs of being removed from a wall. The antique part obviously shows signs of age with loss of paint, soiled areas and loss of moldings. Also someone wrote in marker on the inside. Fantastic piece.
Measurements: 37 1/4 inches wide X 18 inches deep X 94 inches high.
