Description: Antique early 19th century American Empire period classical mahogany drop-leaf dining table,c1820. Possibly School Of Duncan Phyfe by the quality and downward facing finials. Matched single board top with curved in corners over a single drawer with a large ring pull with 4 downward facing finials. Leaves are held up by swing out supports. Pedestal consists of a finely carved acanthus leaves and scrolls. Stands on 4 heavily carved bent hairy animal legs with upturned foliage and ending in a paw foot with large brass casters. Some veneer loss. Table sat under a window for many years so the top is sun faded but evenly faded all over. Great size and in very fine original condition.
Measurements: 42 X 25 1/4 X 30 inches. Table will measure approx 51 inches when opened.
