This is a fantastic Antique French Adam's style walnut dining room sideboard with attached large trumeau mirror with hand painted upper section, c.1900. The large trumeau mirror with a painted floral still life signed "M. Tartaglia" (Attributed to Marino Tartaglia (1894-1984 Croatian). Mirror rests within a squared off neoclassical frame and sit atop of a large shaped sideboard with S scroll sides, flat front with gilded and highlighted bandings over a case painted antiques white with gilding and worn through red undercoat, Large single centered drawer and standing on tapered square carved legs with lower curved stretcher with mounted urn. We purchased this piece along with the table & chairs, server and console from a large estate in Westchester County of a well known figure. Sometime around 1950-1960 they sent their dining room set out to be professionally painted and restored. Hence the reason the painting is dated 1956 and the piece is c1900. Still in very good clean condition but dos show signs of age and use from the last 60 years with flaking to finish and loss of paint and small chips. I am attributing the painted panel to Marino Tartaglia as his very simplistic capital letter signature is used within all his works and this signature uses the same style and use of letters.
Measurements: 78 inches wide X 25 inches deep X 34 inches high to surface with a total height of 91 1/2 inches.
