Offered for your consideration is this piece of Las Vegas history, three beautiful pedestal mugs by Hall China from the Castaways Hotel and Casino (1963-1987), a Hughes Casino, located on 3320 Las Vegas Blvd.
With a beautiful gold base and a Polynesian theme, these mugs are a must have for the collector of Las Vegas memorabilia, advertising memorabilia and gaming memorabilia.
In February 1970, the Castaways was sold to billionaire Howard Hughes for $3 million as part of his buying spree of Las Vegas properties. The resort operated until July 1987, when it and the surrounding property were purchased by Steve Wynn. Wynn then proceeded with his plans to develop a new resort on the Castaways' former grounds using the working name Golden Nugget on the Strip. The resort became Mirage and opened on November 22, 1989
