This is a 19th Century diminutive chest. It has fine dovetailing on the corners and large square nails on the bottom. It measures 16" long, 8.25" deep, and 8" tall. I don't know if this chest was used for documents or for linens. There is a till for smaller things, on the one end. It is a very nice painted piece. I believe it has the original old green paint on most of it. It also appears that at some point the lid was repaired or replaced and the paint had been touched up or painted over some years past. (Judge for yourself in the pics). The hinges do not look to be original. This is a fine piece of Painted Americana. The chest was acquired from New England. Sold as, in the condition we found it.
