This is a 19th century Shaker wooden staved bucket with a bentwood handle. It has interlaced oak finger lap bands. This is unique to the shaker community of New Lebanon, New York. It is painted brown over an apparent green original paint. There is no lid with this bucket. The staves and bands are tight with no odors.
There is some wear damage to one of the staves bottom. (note pic) This is probably due to excessive moisture with use or storage. It measures 10 1/2"top diameter, 11 1/2" bottom diameter, and is 10" tall
This bucket would be a nice addition to a Primitive collector, Firkin collector or a true Shaker collector.
