The colour combination of this unusual antique pendant is so sophisticated - the rose gold, silver and tiny gleaming seed pearls are beautifully complemented by the shining black panel to which the wheatsheaf is riveted.
The framed section is surmounted with a paste forget-me-not and decorated with intricately incised rose gold-topped silver leaves. The bottom paste dangle trembles prettily. The silver chain (which may be of a more recent vintage) threads through the top of the pendant independently.
Victorian, possibly even dating back to the 18th century - a similar wheatsheaf motif can be found in Georgian jewellery.
Overall in good condition, the rose gold is a little damaged in two places (see photos). There may originally have been another leaf on the right but it's not obvious a part is missing, it's just a question of the balance of the design.
Size: 3.8 x 2.2cm.
