This gorgeous rich golden ring features a black hardstone, likely sardonyx, with carved forget-me-not motif framed in a halo of 15 seed pearls. In the Victorian language of flowers the forget-me-not denotes remembrance.
The shoulders of the ring are decorated with beautiful scrollwork in black enamel which is very well preserved for its age; some tiny missing pieces are perceptible under magnification but cannot be seen with the naked eye.
The ring is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 15-carat gold from 1869.
In very good antique condition. One of the pearls appears to be a replacement.
Size: O (UK), 7 (US). The face of the ring measures 1.2 x 0.9cm.
