An absolutely stunning necklace of Victorian Whitby jet beads, each hand carved into a flower pattern, with two beautiful carved shield-shaped plaques.
The individually knotted beads are in very good condition - there are a few tiny surface cracks in a couple of the beads, otherwise just very minor overall wear consistent with such an antique piece. The blackest of jet black, this piece is a fabulous but very wearable piece of history!
The necklace has been newly restrung on black jeweller's silk (all original beads with a new sterling silver clasp) and is ready to wear.
Length: 26 inches.
Size: The beads range in diameter from 1.1cm to 2cm. The plaques measure approx 3 x 3.3cm. The clasp is 1cm across.
