Up for grabs is this incredible vintage ring from the 1940's Art Moderne period. The rubies and diamonds are set into unmarked yellow, rose and white gold that tests for minimum 14k. I see a jellyfish motif but it is modern and could be interpreted in many ways. The large pear shape diamond calculates to about .80 points. It is an old European cut with large culet and VVS - VS clarity. The body of the ring is encrusted with many old cut pave set diamonds of VS - SI2 clarity. The tentacles are untreated carved Burmese rubies in the Tutti Frutti style. They are transparent gemstones that glow like hot coals under ultraviolet light. I am unable to calculate carat weight of the rubies but I am guessing they are over 2.5 carats combined. This ring is completely hand made by an expert craftsman with the finest stones. Though unsigned, this magnificent rarity is worthy of the finest jewelry houses. It is most likely custom made and one of a kind, possibly made for a friend or family member by the artist. It is a large ring. Jewelry of the 1940’s is characterized by its chunkiness and contrast of materials. It measures 24.47 mm's north to south and 23.58 mm's east to west at the widest point. Current finger size is 7.75. This ring can be resized but the face would be too large for a tiny finger.
