This circa 1895-1900 antique ring features two fantastic natural hot pink sapphires. They are fine quality, very transparent with intensely saturated color. They are EGL certified as having no heat or enhancements. They are surrounded by 16 old mine cut diamonds in a shield motif with milgrain edged openwork. The ring top where the gems are set is 90% platinum and the rest of the ring is 18k yellow gold. The ring is marked 18k and a symbol, platinum top tests positive with acid.
The cushion cut sapphires measure about 5.60 by 4.85. mms. Both have a chip seen under my microscope but not with the eye. Some of the diamonds are also chipped or just were cut that way. Old diamonds are not cut like new ones.
The ruby/sapphires weigh about .75 points each and the diamonds are about .30 points total weight.
The current ring size is 7.75. The ring weighs 3.7 grams. It is stamped 18K and a makers symbol. The face of the ring measures about 26.68 mm's north to south by 18.11 east to west. Band is delicate but sturdy.
It is in ravishing good condition.
