This is a spectacular Art Deco sterling silver filigree hinged bangle bracelet. The bracelet dates to the 1930s when filigree bracelets were all the rage. The bracelet is large and impressive and features exquisite filigree work, marcasites and chrysoprase stones. One chrysoprase stone is melon shaped and two are squares. There is a safety chain and the bracelet has two push in buttons to unhinge the bracelet. The bracelet is signed STERLING with the letter H in between two triangles stamped onto a cartouche on the inside of the bracelet.
I have polished this bracelet with a jewelry cloth very carefully for a long time to remove only the surface dirt leaving only exceptional patina which adds to the beauty of the fine filigree work. The bracelet could be polished back to shiny sterling, if you prefer. After hours of research, I have not found another bracelet like it in my books or online. It is consistent with bracelets produced in the 1930s according to reference information on the site Morning Glory Collects (thank you for your excellent website).
The band measures 7/8 inch wide, centre oval measures 1-3/4 inches by 1 inch, inner circumference 7 inches. Weighs 37.26 grams.
All stones are present. In excellent condition.
What more can I say about this exceptional bracelet. It is very special, very hard to find and, if you love Art Deco, it is one that you will want to add to your collection and wear to show it off on special occasions.
