This is a pair of matching sterling silver Mexican grape brooches. The brooches are hallmarked with an early Mexican mark that dates to the 1930s-40s. The brooches are identical. On one brooch the hallmark is legible and the other has been worn over the years so it is illegible. The stamp on one reads IGUALA 925 HECHO EN MEX with the maker MOC or MDC inside the circle of words.
Each measures 2 by 1.5 inches. One brooch weighs 6.09 grams and the other 6.24 grams.
The brooches have dark patina desired by some collectors so I have only given them a brief buff with a jeweller’s cloth to keep them as they are. I will leave the cleaning to the buyer to avoid changing the look. There are a few dimples in a few of the grapes which are minor and there is a dent on the bottom back of one of the brooches which isn’t visible when worn.
Early Mexican sterling silver brooches to add to your collection.
