This is an impressive hammered sterling silver necklace with a modernist design. The necklace features large geometric links of hammered sterling silver. The necklace is two tone with gold vermeil over some of the links. At the ends of the necklace, there is chain, one ends with a lobster clasp and one ends with another hammered silver link. Although this necklace is similar to the pieces produced by Herve Van Der Straeten, this one is stamped 925 and there isn’t a signature by this designer or the type of hook used on his creations. This necklace is made with sterling silver, unlike the pieces by Straeten which are usually gilted brass. Although I am uncertain about when this necklace was made and whether it qualifies as a vintage piece, it’s definitely worthy of listing with its fantastic design. Very fashionable today and a work of art.
Measures 22.5 inches. The largest link is 3 by 1.5 inches. One extender chain is 1.5 inches ending in a lobster clasp and the other chain is 2.5 inches ending in another flat link of silver with gold vermeil. The necklace weighs 70 grams or 2.5 ounces. The lobster clasp and the link at the end of the extender chain are both marked 925 (very hard to see the mark on the final link).
A necklace for fashionistas and lovers of artistic modernist sterling silver jewelry.
