Finely detailed, embossed brass pin depicting a West African woman. Accented with turquoise color enameling. Signed: "E. MONIER" for Emile Monier. Emile Monier (1883-1970) was a French sculptor, engraver and painter. He was well known for his medal designs. His medals ranged from Art Nouveau to Art Deco and portrait. He designed a set of eight medallions depicting the people of the West African French colonies for the Colonial Exposition in Paris, 1930. This pin was probably designed at the same time. While his medals are often found, his pins are rare. Excellent condition.
