A very handsome silver plated biscuit box of timeless design, showing a rectangular body fitted with a hinged & partially domed lid trimmed with a neoclassical inspired reeded edge, overtop a conforming flat raised on four compressed bun feet. The underside bearing makers marks for Mappin & Webb.
Dimensions, 4.5” high x 7.5” wide x 5.75” deep.
In fine overall condition with only minor rubbing to a small area of the lids outer surface.
Mappin & Webb’s origins date back to 1775 and hold Royal Warrants to Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II and The Prince of Wales.
In addition to its intended use, this handsome box would also function very nicely as either a cigar humidor or a tea caddy.
