What a pretty Swiss lady this is, dressed in a beautiful costume traditional to the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Her costume is particularly lovely and well made with lots of perfect detail. She wears a wonderful ivory pencil pleated skirt trimmed with four rows of fresh green ribbon at the hem and supported by a stiff tulle slip, a fine organza white blouse with puffed sleeves, a black felt vest and black silky apron with black lace gauntlets. Her generous straw hat is trimmed with a small bunch of grapes and attached with a bright yellow bow which matches the ribbons gathering her sleeves. She carries a little straw basket filled with felt flowers and their leaves. Her ash blond hair is mohair and neatly styled into two neatly braided buns at the nape of her neck. She exudes serenity and elegance.
The face of this lady is particularly attractive with large finely hand painted hazel eyes which have been lacquered to add a realistic sparkle and which look to the side in a most beguiling way, under thick hand painted lashes and neat brows. I believe her face is made of some sort of solid molded felt which has a bit of soft texture and is nicely 'made up' with rosy cheeks and pink lips. She wears white cotton stockings and black felt shoes which tie at the ankle.
Her legs and 'mitten hands' are made of cloth. Her condition is nearly immaculate other than a little smudge on her forehead and some dark marks under the tops of her stockings. She would have been purchased in the mid 1960's in Switzerland as part of a large collection of vintage international dolls and stands out among them as one of the most lovely.
