This charming early Staffordshire Pottery piece captures the stately elegance of these wonderful birds and is a lovely, different decorative piece which can also hold a bouquet of flowers or a small pot plant. The base is waterproof.
The majority of the bird is in a cream crackle glaze with a darker caramel colour accenting over the neck, chest, wing tips and tail. There is some pitting to the glaze in some areas. The total length is 8 1/2 inches; height to top of head is is 8 inches and it is 5 inches wide at the top of the wings.
Condition is very good for a piece of this age other than come very small shallow chips to the interior top of each wing, several microchips to the top edge; a small bit of rubbing to the glaze on one outside tip of the left wing and some very small stress cracks at the base of the neck where is joins the wing. But none of these detract from the overall decorative charm of the piece and there have not been any repairs. Unmarked on base. This is one of several swans of varying sizes which are in the shop and they make a lovely group.
