This beautiful antique sterling silver bonbon or dressing table dish was made by Meridian & Co Brittannia Sterling. Mermod, Jaccard & King, Co in St. Louis were the retailers, which dates this piece to the late 19th/very early 20th century. It is monogrammed with 'PTC' in a lovely script, which also gives family provenance to pre 1910.
It is stamped with the Meridian maker's mark and 533, which may be the pattern number which I have not been able to identify. The design is still crisp and appears to be blossom and leaves in a heavy repousse pattern.
Condition is excellent, commensurate with age but is has not been over polished over the years.
This dish measures 5 1/2 " (14cm) across and 1 3/4" (4.5cm) high. Weight is 2.5 oz (71g) Please note that measurements and weights although done with great care are approximate and cannot be guaranteed.
Please forgive my poor photographic abilities - the reflections make the piece look as if it is marked and it really is in beautiful condition.
Please note that shipping charges are based on default settings but if actual shipping cost is less than what is paid, the difference will happily be refunded to the buyers Paypal account.
