This exceptionally beautiful vintage dinner or cocktail ring was made by Gumps in San Francisco and epitomizes the renowned style and elegance of these master jewelers in artfully combining pearls and precious stones with fine jade.
The stones and pearls in the cluster are wonderfully arranged in a slightly 'scattered' pattern which give a natural life and movement to this piece. The 10 cultured pearls have a lovely pinkish luster and are surrounded by 10 sapphires, 1 central emerald and 5 gorgeous translucent jade cabochons, held in a sweeping, splayed band of 14K gold which holds this substantial ring firmly in place. The pearls are 4.8mm, the sapphires and the emerald are 2.5mm and the jade cabochons measure 3.8mm. The approximate diameter is 7/8 inches (21mm) and the height from where it rests on the finger is 1/2 inch (14mm) high, so although this piece makes an impression, it is not cumbersome to wear. Weight is 9.5 grams. The size is between 7 3/4 and 8 (20mm diameter).
This stunning ring is in exceptionally good condition - the pearls are lustrous, the stones are all in perfect condition, the prong settings are secure and there are only very slight micro scratches to the gold band commensurate with wear. The mark is too tiny to see properly but this ring has been acid tested by two jewelers for 14 Karat gold.
This luminous piece will never look out of fashion and it just emanates timeless elegance and superb taste.
