Having established herself as a top couture fashion designer, Astrid Fog released her first jewelry collection for Georg Jensen in 1969. Her designs reflected the modernist movement and often presented combinations of various, simple geometric shapes - a style which was completely new at the time. Her jewelry was often quite large and bold and certainly unconventional, but her designs and the superb quality and popularity of her work have stood the test of time and are a testament to her ability and to the fashion of her time.
A clear provenance tells that this particular bracelet was purchased in the early 1970's as it comes from the estate of a renowned member of the fashion world who was one of only a handful of women at the top end of the U.S. fashion industry from the early 1960’s onward. This remarkable woman made history by becoming the first woman vice-president in charge of design and merchandising for all divisions of the country’s largest shoe corporation – US Shoe. This exceptional lady was totally dedicated not only to fashion but equally to cutting edge and classic design. Whilst travelling the world, both for her work and if her collection is anything to go by, also in the constant pursuit of adding special pieces to this significant collection of fashion, jewelry and objets d’art. Many items from her impressive estate will be offered in the shop over the coming months.
