This is a stunning Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Brooch with an interesting and beautifully crafted inlay of deep chocolate brown enamel. The design number is 314 and this quite unique piece in his collection was designed by Henning Koppel who was one of Jensen's key designers from 1945 onwards. A similar example of this beautiful brooch can be seen in the book, 'Georg Jensen Jewelry' by Isabelle Anscombe.
The 'setting' of the rich enamel is smooth perfection and the softly polished sterling has a wonderful patina.
This brooch is in excellent condition with absolutely no damage, dents or scratches and only some very light and faint surface scuffing commensurate with age and use.

This piece is stamped with the oval Georg Jensen mark surrounded by dots, HK for the designer, 925 S (for Sterling), Denmark and 314.
This design was introduced in the mid 1950's comes from the estate of a renowned member of the fashion world who was one of only a handful of women at the top end of the U.S. fashion industry from the early 1960’s onward. This remarkable woman made history by becoming the first woman vice-president in charge of design and merchandising in all divisions of the country’s largest show corporation – US Shoe. This exceptional lady was totally dedicated to fashion and cutting edge design. The work of Henning Koppel (1918 - 1981) represented a radical departure from the designs of all the Jensen designers who preceded him. Koppel’s highly original work, infused with the spirit of modern art, signaled a bold new direction for the firm and attracted international attention making the Georg Jensen company a leader in what became known as Scandinavian modern design.
Henning Koppel’s drawings and works in silver, porcelain, and glass are represented in museum collections all over the world. He was honored by many awards including the Lunning Prize in 1953; gold medals at the Milan Tiennale in 1951, 1954, and 1957 and the International Design Award of the American Institute of Interior Designers in 1963.
