This is a wonderfully sparkly small early 20thC Art Deco 'flapper bag', beautifully hand beaded in the tiniest, faceted steel cut beads and equally tiny opaque black glass beads (less than 1mm). Its top flap is secured/closes with a pretty simulation pearl. Both the strap and the interconnected looped fringe are made of the same beads. This remarkable work offers 576 beads to the square inch.
Measures 5 7/8" wide and 5 1/2" long with the 1 1/2" fringe. The strap has a drop of about 6" and is just over 1/4" wide.
It is in excellent condition with no damage, loss to beads or fringe. There is a total loss of the lining, of which I have included a little tattered piece for interest. There is an interior label 'Made in France'. Weight is 166g. It is a very lively and utterly charming little treasure!
