This is a wonderful sterling silver oval soap box with a elaborate acid etched 'Florentine' border surrounding a central cartouche with a classic monogram which may be JWR - c 1900. The box is hinged and snaps closed securely. Faint gold vermeil to the interior.
Measures 3 5/8" across x 2 5/8" high x 1 5/8" deep. A nice solid weight of 85g. It is marked Sterling with a maker's mark which is small but may be Bates and Klunck from Massachusetts - c 1900.
Other than a small vertical dent on one side of the lower half, this piece is in excellent condition for its age with only slight micro scratches which show under magnification. It represents a very nice example of its type and would be a wonderful addition to a collection, to use as a decorative piece or indeed for it's original purpose which was to keep precious soap safe whilst travelling!
Shipping charges are estimates based on weight bands but should the actual cost be more than $2 lower than what has been paid by the buyer, the difference will be gladly and promptly refunded to the buyer's Paypal account.
