These are a sweet trio of international travel dolls, in fine condition, which are part of a large collection purchased in the 1960's. They range between 9 - 9 1/2" high.
The Austrian couple measure just over 9" high and are both tagged 'Baitz' made in Austria. Their composition type faces are adorable and I believe sometimes referred to as 'whistlers' due to the shape of their mouths. The bodies feel like firmly packed cloth, the legs are wired inside for support and positioning. They wear black felt shoes and have felt 'mitten' hands. Both have blond mohair, his in a neat bob cut and her very long and fine braids which are wonderful! Their costumes are simple in red, black and white but are very well made with some nice detail. He also sports a jaunty black felt hat with a yellow tassel. Perfect vintage condition with no damage, stains, wear or fading.
The Dutch girl was made by Dovina of Rotterdam which is tagged on the back of her skirt and complete with tiny wooden shoes. Her face is beautifully painted with nice eyes, lips and rosy cheeks. This is framed by a lace cap from which a platinum blond curl peeks out on her forehead. She is colorfully dressed with a black braid trimmed top a brightly striped full felt skirt, partially covered by a silky black apron with detail to match her blouse and a sweet under skirt of yellow floral pattern. She wears knitted black stockings, one of which needs mending.
Rather than sell these separately, I have combined them to reduce shipping costs for buyers outside Europe. But similar dolls, if sold individually, would be well in excess of the combined price for this charming vintage trio.
