This exquisite late 18th C domed top fruitwood, chinoiserie style penwork box is in exceptionally good condition considering its age. The top closes tightly and the penwork is still completely unblemished and has a lovely patina. It is a stunning decorative piece with a beautiful luster, which will fit into any design scheme. Its domed top is quite a unique feature and its height and rectangular shape make it perfect for a mantel or as part of a grouping on a side table.
On the top is represented a charming figural scene in the chinoiserie style and all the sides are intricately decorated in superb detail with floral scenes. The interior is immaculate having been professionally relined and the bottom of the box has been inlaid with green felt.
It measures 7 3/4 inches in length, 4 1/2 inches high and 5 1/2 inches deep.
The interior paper lining and the felt bottom are not original but are more modern 'rejuvenations' but they are well done and do not detract in any way from the decorative value and beauty of this wonderful piece.
Shipping costs are estimated on weight bands and should the actual cost be less than what is paid, the difference will be happily and promptly refunded to the buyer's Paypal account.
