A very dainty, fine Limoges small cup and saucer made and decorated by Haviland & Co, France during the late 19th to the early 20th Century. The hand painted design of this set is still immaculate and depicts intricately presented garlands of pale pink roses and green foliage with gilt accents around the rim of the scalloped saucer, the cup and the handle. I believe that the Haviland 'blank' for this set is #5.
The cup measure 4 1/2" across including the handle and is 1 1/2" high. The saucer is 4 3/4" across and 1/2" high. Back stamp marks are the green Haviland - France underglaze for the maker and the red underglaze Haviland & Co - Limoges for the decorator, which puts the age of this duo to between about 1889 and 1930.
Other than a tiny chip (2mm) on the outer edge of the back of the saucer, which does not show from above and can just be seen on the lower right hand portion of the saucer in photo #6, the set is in pristine condition with no cracks or other issues. The pricing takes into account the very small chip to the saucer.
This set is a lovely example of this period of fine translucent Limoges china and would make special addition to any collection.
