A unique silver necklace with descending lengths of dangling tulip shaped 'bells' which make the most charming light tinkling sound when they touch. The movement of this piece is wonderful!
Having spent hours and having contacted several experts in an attempt to determine the provenance of this family heirloom, there has been no definitive enlightenment as to its origin! Every country from Yemen to Mexico to China has been suggested but there is absolutely nothing similar to this anywhere to be found. So it will have to stand on its own merit as a most attractive and unique piece of vintage fine silver jewelry ~ although delicate, it is quite a statement piece and so different!
Strung on a fine silver chain are small, perfectly round silver beads, evenly interspersed with graduated silver chain links which each attach to finely crafted 'tulip shaped' bells. It is in perfect condition. The clasp is a secure screw closure, also beautifully made, which mirrors the quality of the necklace and the unique design. Although unmarked, this piece clearly acid tests for greater than sterling and can be assumed to be close to pure silver. Weight is 79 grams.
Total length is 14 5/8 inches long (37cm). The three longest center links measure 2 3/4 inches long. The little tulip bells measure 1/2 inch long.
