Beautifully detailed and textured patinated sand cast bronze of Barye’s ‘Panthère’ set into its original polished black slate plaque. This is a very fine example of Barye’s work using new methods of chiselling and patination which created surfaces which were lustrous and alive. The finish on this work reflects his personal obsession with and dedication to perfectionism. Extremely clear, crisp and finely detailed representation of the of the subject – even the panther’s whiskers are detailed. Deep brown patina with reddish hues, with some hints of verdigris. The original, finely machined bronze mounting ring is attached to the back of the slate plaque.
