This beautiful White Fire Opal translucent bead necklace was meticulously hand crafted creating a unique jewelry piece. The woman from whom I purchased it said her niece had made it for her about 45 years ago when she (the niece) was "into crystals and rocks and smoked all that hippie stuff." It appears, if my jeweler is to be believed, that the girl actually used the same grade of genuine, inexpensive opal we see in some costume (like Swoboda) and less expensive 10K and 14K jewelry, which was very cheap back in the 60s. The size of the teardrop beads are 1", the clustered beads are approx. 4mm and the remaining beads are approx. 6mm, making a 17 1/2" necklace. The beads have no chips or cracks. If you were born in October this is perfect for you....
(Very difficult to photograph - there is some "fire" in the beads - I apologize for the quality of the pics, but I am not a pro. I think #3 is probably the best pic.)
