This is a beautiful Hand Painted Pickard Plate with lots of rich looking Gold. The Pickard China Co. was located in Chicago,Il USA. It measures 8 1/2" in length. The Violet Supreme pattern was designed by the artist "Emil J.T. Fischer". We did not find a signature. The studio mark is Pickard Mark 7 in Red and was used early in the 1912-1918 period. This plate is skillfully decorated with Violet Flowers and Green Violet Leaves. It has Gold paint all around the plate with Green violet stems winding out to the center of the plate with a artfully done Art Nouveau design in the middle. The blank that was used by the Pickard Company is marked Haviland France and has the Pickard Circle mark with Hand Painted China / W Pickard A. This mark is shown in the Kovel's New dictionary of Marks on page 49d. It has a Gold Seal on it from a Retailer Winston Bros. in Oregon that sold Jewelry and Opticals. Their Logo of a Serpent / Griffin holding a Diamond. It is in wonderful excellent condition with no problems.
