This is a 1880's-1890's Japanese Influence SP Pickle Castor w/ Vaseline Glass Jar & SP Pickle Tongs. It is an exceptional fine Pickle Castor that is all original and has a scarce Vaseline Glass Pickle Jar in the Diamond Quilted Pattern. It has a silverplated Lid with a fancy finial. Throughout the Silverplated Frame it has Japanese Motif Designs. At the very top of the Castor Frame there is a Round Medallion with a Japanese Motif Scene of a Bird, a Dragonfly and Bamboo on one side and on the other side it has an Owl sitting on a limb with the Sun shining down from the sky and other Japanese Motifs . It has two Wing Designs that flair out on the lower part of the frame and line up on either side of the Vaseline Glass Jar that have the influence of a Japanese Motif Design. And around the foot of the Frame in two wide bands. It has a hook on one side of the frame and it looks like it had another hook on the other side as well, however is gone now, no longer there, other than the missing small hook, it does not have any other issues or problems. It has Silverplated Pickle Tongs with Claw Feet and flowers in the middle part of each side. The Silverplated Frame is marked around the inside edge "Pairpoint Mfg Co ./ "P" in a Diamond / Quadruple Plate 643". The Frame measures 12 3/4" tall, is about 4" across, has an inside opening of the Frame that measures 3 1/4" across in diameter, the bottom of the frame measures 4 1/4" and the the Bottom Wide Foot that flairs out at the bottom, measures 1 1/2" tall and is 13 1/2" around the base. The Lid measures 3 1/8" across in diameter. The Vaseline Glass jar measures 3" across the top opening, 4 1/8" tall, 10 1/4" around and is 3 1/8" across the bottom foot. The Silverplate on the Frame looks to be in fairly good condition for being around over 100 years old.
