This is a 1890's Gold Filled Mechanical Lorgnette. This Pair of Opera / Reading Glasses has a ring to fit into your finger to hold it and be able to move it forward or back to adjust to your eyes. It has an Engine Turning Design on the handle with (3) Ribbed designs at the top of the handle and (3) down near the bottom. It has a Fancy engraved piece where the Pair of Glasses fold and slide away into it, a Leaf / Garland design on the Ring holder and nose pincher parts. There is a short piece of rod on the handle under the (3) Ribbed Pieces. If you push this up from the Ring Holder, the Lorgnette will "Pop" open. Your local Optician could add your prescription lenses needed for reading into this Lorgnette Frame or have magnifying lenses added as there are No Glass Lenses in the frames. It does have a mark on it under the nose rest, however, it is so tiny that I could not make it out. We do not believe that this Lorgnette is Sterling with a Gold Wash, but is some other metal.
