This is a Pair of Old English Grape Shears Circa 1868. We have the Original Tag from A. Schmidt & Son that has on it " Old English Grape Shears / Circa 1868 / Made in England / A. Schmidt and Son " and the Original Silver Cloth Holder that is marked A. Schmidt & Sons 578-580 Sutter St./ San Francisco / Beverly Hills / New York. These Antique Grape Shears were purchased by the previous owner at one of the 3 locations of A.Schmidt & Son. They had Stores in San Francisco, Beverly Hills and New York City. This pair of Grape Shears has loops for your finger to fit through and hold on to the Shears. They have a Beading Design on the top, front and back and come down with (2) Solid Heavy Handles ( very much like Nut Cracker handles ). The Shears Part that has a Button Rosette are joined together at the Crossing (X) Part of the Shears. They are smooth on the other side of this same part. The Top Shear Blade is Solid, the Bottom Shear Blade has a lip on it at the bottom of the other Shear Blade. These Grape Shears measure 2 3/8" across the Handles, 6 5/8" in Total Length and the Handles measure 4" down each Handle. After inspecting theses Grape Shears all over, we did not see a mark anywhere on them. However, we did notice that they are in great condition.
